The Firm
Melanie J. O'Neill has an honours undergraduate degree from Queen's University, where she graduated with distinction. She was awarded the Gold Medal at graduation.
Although Melanie's true passion resides with family law, she has experience in corporate commercial law and civil litigation from when she worked at a large Bay Street firm.
Her background in social justice and corporate law has allowed her to provide well-rounded representation to her family law clients.
In 2013, Melanie became a panel member for the Office of the Children's Lawyer.
When Melanie is not working she enjoys running, spinning classes, and spending time with her family.
Professional Law Experience
Melanie was employed at a national level corporate commercial law firm in Toronto prior to realizing that family law is her real area of interest and passion.
This experience however is used in her practice today when advocating property division and support issues on behalf of her clients.
As a panel lawyer for the Office of the Children's Lawyer, she also represents children in custody/access and child protection proceedings.
She draws on her experience as a Children's Lawyer when representing parents in their custody and access matters. Melanie frequently appears before the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice in York Region, Toronto, Simcoe, and beyond.
Melanie obtained her Honours Degree from Queen's University, where she graduated with distinction and was awarded the Queen's Gold Medal. She obtained her Law Degree at Queen's University and attended Osgoode Hall Law School for her final year of studies.
Melanie understands the value of family and currently lives in the York Region area with her husband and two children.
